When Francine County, Texas Sheriff Jubal Dark captured fugitive murderer Carl Spence, the Sheriff made it clear to everyone that Spence was a nothing more than worthless coward. For that insult, Spence vowed revenge. Four years later, when Spence and two other murderers escape from prison, they unsuccessfully attack the sheriff and, in the process of stealing a car and making their getaway, murder an entire local family.
Now, as Spence and the two other killers race across Texas, they know they must get across the border before Sheriff Dark can track them down. Their timing couldn’t be worse. The Sheriff is up for re-election and seems likely to lose.
